Estados Unidos ha completado ya un plan de contingencia para reforzar la frontera con México. Movilizará elementos civiles y militares apoyados por aviones, vehículos blindados y “equipos especiales”. La amenaza gravísima a su seguridad no se debe tanto al paso de peligrosos indocumentados sino a la violencia que el narco ha desatado en territorio mexicano y que ya “se desparramó” hacia el otro lado. Dentro del plan se considera dar facultades a la Patrulla Fronteriza para que, en caso necesario, pida ayuda militar.

Michael Chertoff, secretario de seguridad interna estadunidense, asegura que el gobierno de los EU está muy preocupado por la violencia criminal del narco en México, y manifiesta que ya aconsejó a la gobernadora de Arizona, Janet Napolitano, quien va a sucederlo en el cargo en el gabinete de Barack Obama, que haga una de las prioridades del gobierno del presidente electo, la ayuda a México para que controle sus fronteras y solucione el problema del crimen organizado. Por si fuera poca la vigilancia que existe en la frontera mejor resguardada del mundo entre países que no están en guerra, todavía van a reforzarla más. El mismo Chertoff asegura que antes de terminar su periodo habrá completado mil 63 kms. de la barda que separará ambas fronteras y cuyo largo total será de 3 mil 218 kms.
Lo extraño del caso es que en el cruce de esta frontera, numerosos indocumentados mueren y son detenidos diariamente; hasta ahora ningún narco. Y pese a tantas medidas de seguridad, la droga sigue ingresando a los EU sin que nada pueda detenerla. En Colombia las organizaciones del narcotráfico festejaban cada vez que un camión cargado de droga ingresaba a territorio estadunidense, o sea que estaban mejor informados que las autoridades de ese país. Éstas, por lo visto, ignoraban el paso de vehículos que transportaban droga. No se sabe si los narcos mexicanos también festejan, pero lo cierto es que meten la droga. ¿Habrán encontrado estos delincuentes la fórmula que los vuelve invisibles y vuelve invisibles los vehículos? Podría apostar que, puesto en marcha el mencionado plan de contingencia, van a pescar a muchos indocumentados, y cuando esté lista la barda, van a ser muy pocos los que logren burlarla… pero que seguirá pasando la droga, es seguro, con todo y la “gran ayuda” del gobierno de los EU al de México para la lucha contra el crimen organizado. Pobres gringos, tan lejos de Dios y tan cerca de estos perversos hispanos.
Antisemitismo
El clamor mundial que se ha levantado en contra de los crímenes de guerra que está cometiendo el gobierno de Israel contra la población palestina, no significa ninguna forma de antisemitismo o antijudaísmo. El crimen se condena por lo que es, no por quien lo cometa, y no se involucra a todos los judíos, ni siquiera a todos los habitantes de Israel. Ahí mismo adentro hay movimientos pacifistas que condenan estas atrocidades y muchos judíos del mundo, incluidos judíos estaunidenses, repudian la violencia desmedida y cruel contra los habitantes de la franja de Gaza.
No hay que caer en la trampa de que “Israel tiene derecho a defenderse”, como proclaman los EU y como proclamaban las pancartas de los que se manifestaron el viernes pasado ante la embajada de Israel en México: “de esta guerra depende tu paz. Sigue adelante”.
En primer lugar, ese estado se encuentra en territorio usurpado -y que no vengan con el cuento de que Jehová se los regaló hace dos mil años; este terruño donde hoy se asienta la Ciudad de México, se lo regaló Huitzilopochtli a los aztecas hace bastante menos tiempo; la península de Yucatán era territorio maya, así que los chilangos y los yucatecos tenemos que ir buscando a dónde nos mudamos-, en seguida, desde su constitución, Israel se comporta como potencia ocupante con bien cumplida intención colonizadora; se ha ido extendiendo sobre las zonas vecinas a costa de sus legítimos habitantes. Mantiene desde años antes de las actuales hostilidades, un bloqueo inhumano contra los palestinos residentes en la franja de Gaza: no pueden acceder a alimentos básicos, no tienen electricidad ni suministro de agua, y durante el conflicto actual, el ejército invasor ha restringido cuando no impedido la llegada de ayuda humanitaria. Dos escuelas establecidas por la ONU han sido bombardeadas con saldo de muertos y heridos. En una de ellas se encontraban refugiadas más de mil personas afectadas por el conflicto, y la Agencia de las Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados Palestinos (UNRWA por sus siglas en inglés), había proporcionado al ejército israelí las coordenadas exactas de dichas escuelas a fin de que fueran respetadas por los bombardeos, así que los ataques fueron deliberados. El conductor de un convoy de la Cruz Roja acaba de ser asesinado a disparos a pesar de que el ingreso de dicho convoy había sido autorizado por el propio ejército israelí. No se puede alegar error porque los distintivos, uniformes y emblemas eran bien visibles y a pesar de eso el convoy fue agredido.
La Cruz Roja, que no puede ser tildada de “antisemita”, considera intolerable la actitud de dichos invasores respecto a la población de la franja de Gaza. Esta última agresión ha obligado a la ONU a suspender las operaciones de ayuda.
En 16 días de ataques, han perecido más de 900 palestinos; las bajas israelíes son 10.

What You'd Know About Israel If You Watched Al Jazeera TV

Live coverage of the war hasn't made it into most American living rooms.

DAMASCUS, Syria -- Throughout the 11 days of Israel's pummeling of Gaza, live coverage of the war hasn't made it into most American living rooms.
That's because Israel, America's staunch ally, isn't allowing journalists to enter Gaza while Al Jazeera, called anti-American and pro-terrorist by many in Washington, is the only network broadcasting live images from Gaza to the world.
The 350 reporters who descended on Israel when the conflict began are stuck at the border between Israel and Gaza. Israel says that opening border crossings to journalists would put their soldiers in danger, but many have accused them of trying to control the story. Instead of giving their viewers up-close pictorial evidence of what is occurring in Gaza, television networks have been restricted to showing their viewers plumes of smoke as they rise in the distance.
But Al Jazeera, the Qatari network that has previously undergone attacks and had its reporters arrested by the U.S. military, remains typically defiant. While other networks are increasingly severed from Gaza as phone lines are cut and 75 percent of the territory is without electricity, Al Jazeera is bringing its approximately 140 million English- and Arabic-speaking viewers live images of bombings, tanks rolling through Gaza's farmland, and interviews with civilians and aid workers inside Gaza city.
Like all of the networks, Al Jazeera gives constant hard-hitting interviews with politicians and analysts from Israel, the West Bank, and the rest of the Arab world. But while others can only balance pundits with more pundits, Al Jazeera has been taking the viewer to the scene to weigh the words of politicians against the reality on the ground.
Take Israel's claim that there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza. After showing an Israeli politician writing off the assertion of the existence of a humanitarian disaster, Al Jazeera cut to the Al Shifa hospital, the largest in all of Gaza. There, we saw that there were not enough medical supplies and civilians lying on bloody hospital beds told us that their lives were not only being crippled by bombs falling on their houses, but by the extreme lack of water and food for the people cowering inside them.
One man, as he held his dead, pale faced 7-month-old son in his arms, said, "We were in our house for three days before the bombs fell on us. We called for the Red Cross and humanitarian groups, but no one was able to reach us…We have no one but God."
Israeli officials continue to assert that they are allowing in humanitarian aid by opening the border, but as Al Jazeera's Ayman Moheyaldin reported from the inside, "The point is not that you open the crossings to allow in 30 to 40 trucks, but that you keep them open and allow a continuous amount of goods to enter for a sustainable amount of time."
The problem isn't only that supplies can't get in. People still can't get out. Most are left searching hopelessly for safety while their stories remain trapped within Gaza's walls.
"There is nowhere safe in Gaza," an enraged John Ging, head of the UN Relief and Works Agency in Gaza, told Al Jazeera's Sherine Tadros in front of the Al Shifa hospital today. Those words came after the Israeli Defense Forces bombed a UN school that was being used as a refuge. Later in the day, a second UN school was struck by the Israelis, killing at least 40. "Everyone here is terrorized and traumatized and they have the right to be because there is no safe haven…This violence needs to stop now. Neither side can wait for the other to stop first," he said.
While Al Jazeera might be the only channel reporting from inside Gaza, scores of channels across the Middle East are airing constant commentary as well as images of wailing women, dead children, and burning buildings on loop. On the Syrian satellite station Al-Sham, for example, a pro-Hezbollah series about Israel's occupation of south Lebanon was alternated with a 20-minute musical piece sung over images of dead babies, American soldiers kicking men in orange jumpsuits, a naked Arab man with a bag over his head running from American military dogs, stone-throwing Palestinian children, and endless footage of blood-soaked Palestinians and Iraqis. The song's chorus, "The heart of humanity has died. It died between us brothers. Maybe we forgot one day that all Arabs are brothers," reflects the deep anger that people are feeling toward the inaction of Arab governments here.
By and large, media here is "all Gaza, all the time," and the more people see and hear about what is going on there, the angrier they seem to get. As I rode a bus into the Palestinian refugee camp, Yarmouk, a few days ago, the Syrian radio station was taking calls. A woman screamed into the airwaves, "The people of Gaza don't need food; they need guns to resist the Israelis!" The bus remained silent, full of straight-faced, clench-jawed passengers.
Many went home and watched the ground invasion live a couple of hours later in night vision-green on Al Jazeera. Since then, the death toll has climbed to at least 598, according to Al Jazeera, with 2,700 injured.
Meanwhile, the world's only live coverage of the tragedy is kept away from American eyes. While Al Jazeera English competes with CNN and BBC as one of the largest networks in the world, no major American cable provider has been willing to carry the channel since it launched in 2006. Some say cable providers are squeamish about working with a channel popularly perceived in the United States as giving airtime to terrorists.
But Al Jazeera is finding its way around the problem. Today, Americans hungry for inside coverage of Gaza can download Livestation, a free program that will let viewers watch Al Jazeera English among other international networks. Defiant as always, Al Jazeera might break through another media blackout, and into American homes.

Saber lo que está pasando, y entenderlo para sentirlo

La guerra ha llegado a las calles de Gaza, la guerra “urbana”. Esto significa entrar en sus casas, tomarlas de cuarteles y movilizar a una población que llevan 10 días viviendo bajo bombas, después de 20 meses del más mortal asedio, y que ha provocado ya un éxodo de 13.000 personas según la ONU.

Hay que añadir que no hay electricidad, ni agua, ni comida, que huyen buscando no se sabe qué, pues no pueden salir. ¿Qué hacer cuando no puedes ofrecerle seguridad, ni comida, ni cobijo a tus hijos?, cuando no hay posibilidades de nada salvo esperar a la muerte, por misiles de avión, de helicóptero, de barco o de tanque. Por todas partes bombardeados.

Los niños y niñas mueren por doquier, y el dolor de perder a un hijo es compartido por todas las madres y padres, y solo de pensarlo el dolor es infinito. Las madres y padres de Gaza están bombardeando y les matan a todos sus hijos, a todos. Y cuando no, son los hijos viendo morir a sus madres; los hospitales desbordados, la sangre ya seca en el suelo, tampoco hay agua ni siquiera electricidad en ellos.

Los heridos mueren porque no pueden ser atendidos, los recién nacidos de frío, los neonatos en incubadoras todos muertos, las embarazadas pariendo en las calles con abortos provocados por las bombas, también mueren. Caen bombas y más bombas, una media de 100 por día, y algunas de una tonelada. Los muertos yacen en los escombros, nadie puede ni rescatar a los muertos ni acudir a los heridos.

Los padres y madres desesperados, los hijos e hijas desconsolados, nada que ofrecer, nada, sólo destrucción e infierno. Han destruido dos puentes, disparado a ambulancias, hospitales, clínicas móviles, escuelas, universidades, centros de investigación, casas, todo cae bajo las bombas.

¿Cómo se puede sobrevivir a este infierno?, ¿cómo si ni siquiera pueden huir?. En el Norte todo ha sido devastado; la zona de Jabalia y de Bet Hanoun han sido arrasadas. Conocemos a Maher, palestino de Bet Hanoun, no sabemos qué queda de su gran familia; entre éxodo interno y frío, solo sea sufrimiento lo que padecen en el caso que estén vivos.

Los tanques están ahora en Gaza city, ciudad histórica con miles de años de antigüedad. Susan, Talat, Adam, Maria, Rana, Feddy, todos viven allí, unos musulmanes, otros cristianos. Todos de Gaza. Sólo de pensar en ellos se me descompone el alma. Ahora esperan que los tanques lleguen a sus calles, a sus pisos, y destruyan sin saber qué hacer ni donde ir.

La situación nos supera. Los tanques también han entrado por el pueblo de Ahmed Abu Tawahina, y puede que su familia de 9 hijos esté afectada. No sólo le destruyen el centro de trabajo, las escuelas de sus hijos, los tanques entran por el Este por su ciudad. Y así con todas las personas que conocemos de Gaza, y el mismo sentimiento se extiende para quiénes no conocemos, pues todos están compartiendo este inmenso sufrimiento.

A esta grave situación se une que según la ONU en Noviembre ya estaban a punto de entrar en catástrofe humanitaria, que según la terminología internacional es el último grado, superior a la crisis humanitaria. Creo que estamos ante un caso que supera toda la terminología disponible hasta ahora.

Puede llamarse el Genocidio del Plomo fundido en Gaza, o como masacrar a 2 millones de personas en 2 semanas. Hecho por Israel.

Desde luego se han ganado la medalla de los matones por supremacía, los más asesinos del planeta. Este verano escribía un artículo muy extenso que se llamaba “la palestinización del mundo”, al final debatía entre una perspectiva iniciada por el sionismo que era convertir al mundo en Palestina, es decir, controlar y ser ocupados, o una perspectiva positiva, que el mundo se volviera Palestino, en sus ideales, su resistencia y su lucha.

Ahora estamos viviendo esta balanza. La palestinización del mundo está aquí, y habrá que hacer todo lo posible para que gane el lado positivo.

Why Israel Won't Allow Journalists into Gaza

"The boat while still in international waters has been rammed by Israeli patrol boats, our vessel has been damaged ... "

Overnight, the Jerusalem Post carried a story, "Navy Sends Activist Boat Back to Cyprus," which said:

The navy has turned back a boat trying to carry pro-Palestinian protesters to the Gaza Strip, officials said Tuesday
Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said the boat ignored an Israeli radio order to turn back early Tuesday. He said the boat tried to outmaneuver the navy ship and crashed into it, lightly damaging both vessels. The navy then escorted the boat to the territorial waters of Cyprus.
In a report from AFP, Israeli authorities said is was all just a mistake:
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor told AFP that the naval vessel tried to contact the aid boat by radio for identification and to inform it that it could not enter Gaza.
"After the boat did not answer the radio, it sharply veered, and the two vessels collided, causing only light damage," Palmor said.
The Israeli spokesman accused the pro-Palestinian activists of "seeking provocation more than ever."
But this time, a reporter, Karl Penhaul from CNN, was actually on the boat -- and gave the report you see above as the events were happening:
... the boat, while still in international waters has been rammed by Israeli patrol boats, our vessel has been damaged ... there's been some damage to a roof section and to glass windows around the steering area and the captain says that the vessel is taking on a small amount of water, that at this stage is not life-threatening, but the ship was very severely rammed by one of those Israeli patrol boats, those patrol boats have been following the vessel for the half-hour prior to the ramming incident ... they rammed the vessel without warning but after the ramming there was a radio message saying the Israeli patrol boat was accusing the Dignity of being involved in terrorist activities.
No wonder Israel is continuing its refusal to allow foreign journalists into Gaza.
